Continuous Improvement.
We delivered a targeted improvement project in the warehouse, combining lean principles with practical 5S changes to create a safer, cleaner, and more efficient environment. Alongside process mapping, time-and-motion reviews, and reorganising work areas, the project delivered several key upgrades:
Cleaner, quiter environmental: Local exhaust ventilation (LEV) was relocated outside and a silencer fitted to a vacuum lifter, reducing noise to below mandatory limits.
Safer storage: A new retaining wall was installed to secure one-tonne bags, reducing risks in bulk storage areas.
Improved traffic management: A new warehouse entrance separated staff from vehicle movements, strengthening site safety.
Reduced water use: A new spray nozzle for the tanks is projected to cut cleaning water usage by more than 80%, improving sustainability as well as efficiency.
Everyday efficiency: Clearer layouts, better visual standards, and improved housekeeping routines helped staff save time and reduce wasted effort.
Optimising Storage: Making changes to racking heights to optimise storage and creating another 60 spaces.
The project delivered measureable safety, environmental, and efficiency gains, but also created a sense of ownership, with warehouse staff now actively maintaining standards and suggesting further improvements.
